Conferences & Vincentians
The St. Vincent de Paul Society utilizes a network of 16 Conferences in St. Joseph County to help fulfill our mission. This person-to-person service is critical to expanding our reach and serving our neighbors in need.
The Purpose of a Conference
The basic mission of the St. Vincent de Paul Society is to love God and to love our neighbors. This is primarily done through a network of St. Vincent de Paul Conferences in St. Joseph County, Indiana.
Most conferences are associated with a Catholic parish or school, and every conference involves a small group of members—Vincentians—who are dedicated to meeting the needs of our neighbors.

Vincentians go two-by-two into the homes of our neighbors in need—to listen, to learn, to provide emergency assistance such as food or clothing, and to educate our neighbors about other programs the Society offers. These Home Visits are what make the Society unique, and it is through these Home Visits that Vincentians exercise their faith and grow in their spirituality.
Becoming a Vincentian
Vincentians represent all ages, races, and incomes. Anyone who is willing to lend a hand is welcome to become a Vincentian. Whether you are able to serve daily, weekly, or monthly, your help is needed.

While Vincentians are not usually professionally trained social workers, we are dedicated to educating Vincentians through Ozanam Orientation. Ozanam Orientation is designed to introduce new members to the mission of the Society and to educate members on Home Visits.
