Home Visits

The St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Joseph County's Home Visit Program is about more than just assistance—it’s about understanding your story and walking with you through life’s challenges. We have a network of 16 conferences with over 500 members who visit the homes of neighbors in our community.

What is a Home Visit?

A Home Visit may be requested for the following reasons:

  • You need help with food

  • You need help with rent or a utility bill (on a limited basis and in limited areas)

  • You have questions about other community resources

When two of our caring volunteers visit your home, they will also listen with compassion and respect, taking the time to understand your unique situation. In the comfort of your space, we’ll talk about how we can best support you—not just with temporary help, but with encouragement and companionship, too.

We’re here to treat you with the dignity you deserve and offer support in a way that feels right for you.

Scheduling a Home Visit

To schedule a home visit, please call (574) 234-6000; our phones are open Monday through Friday from 10am until 2pm. Press option 1 to schedule a home visit.

Please Note:

  • You may request a home visit once every 30 days.

  • If you live in an area where a home visit is available, we will submit a request, and a volunteer will reach out within 2-5 days to confirm the delivery. A phone number is required for service.
